My name’s Mark Kaeppler and I’m a 4th year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. I have always had an interest in international and public health, making applying to CFHI an attractive option after I’d heard so much about what the organization is able to do. Perhaps coincidentally, I spent a year teaching English as a volunteer in Ecuador before starting medical school in 2008. In February 2012, I completed a month-long program in Ecuador, called Urban & Rural Comparative Health, Ecuador. Not only was my time abroad extremely rewarding, I’m so glad to have gotten the scholarship that’s allowing me to reach out through this blog. It’s meant a lot to me to have even more reason to tell all my friends and fellow health professional students about Child Family Health International (CFHI).
